Since December 2019, the Unlocking the Mary Hamilton Papers team have been working away on a digital edition of writings related to Mary Hamilton (1756-1816), including material from the Mary Hamilton Papers archive held at the John Rylands Research Institute and Library, as well as from various other repositories in both the UK and the US.

We are very pleased to announce that the digital edition, hosted by Manchester Digital Collections, has been greatly improved and extended in recent months, and we will be celebrating with an official launch event taking place on 27 September 2022, from 11:00 until 13:00, online via Zoom. This event is free and open to all so please do join us to learn more about the team’s work and explore this wonderful resource! Attendees should register in advance via Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/online-launch-of-the-mary-hamilton-papers-digital-edition-tickets-383961879317

Along the way – both during the course of Unlocking the Mary Hamilton Papers, and in this project’s earlier form as the Image to Text project – we have received support from our advisory board, academic and professional colleagues (both within and beyond the University of Manchester) and many student interns and volunteer transcribers over the years (you can find the names of these people on our Acknowledgements page), so this is a celebration of their contribution too! We particularly hope that those who have been involved in the project over the years, in whatever form, will join us online to explore the digital edition and hear about the range of research being undertaken within the project.
